Multi-Objective Optimization of Software Architectures Using Ant Colony Optimization

Abstract—In current practice, software architects try to find good solutions manually, which is time-consuming, error-prone and often lead to suboptimal designs. Architecture trade-off analysis methods are appropriate techniques to evaluate design decisions and design alternatives with respect to conflicting quality requirements. In this research article an automated approach guided by ant swam intelligence to search the design space for optimal solutions is proposed. This approach applied multi-objective ant colony optimization to the trade-off problem in the context of software architectures.
