Project Planning as Initial Step for Successful Project

Ahmed Amohamed
Abstract—The project plan describes each activity will perform on the project, and who will be responsible to do it. The main motivation of software project planning is to create a certain type of strategy which guaranty controlling, tracking and monitoring a complex technical project. The size, and complexity of a project are some of the project criteria’s which must be taken in consideration in order to arrive at the intended destination success for any organization by completing the project on time, within budget, and necessary quality aspects. Complexity of the projects relies on the level criticality of its tasks and the time assigned to them, and both must be defined into the project plan. Project planning technology and project managers can work together in terms of provide the needed resources and schedule balancing issues using tools such as Microsoft’s MS Project. Planning tools usually support coordination and routing of information to team members. A project plan must define each project task and responsible stakeholder. Moreover, good requirements planning means software can be cheaper to produce, easier to build, and less prone to unexpected failure.

Index Terms—Project management, software project planning, planning process, planning objectives.
